Two Steps and a Man

Zac took his first two steps today. It was thrilling, exciting and a bit scary as to what is in the near future! We are going to be running around crazy very shortly! We were at CJ's baseball game, watching a great game in the early summer sun...Zac was standing for quite a while, longer than he had ever before then he did it...took a quick first step then another and then...plop! Right on his bottom. But he did it! Allison and John were there cheering him on! We were all so proud. (CJ's team ended up winning too)

So, last night CJ comes up to me and the following conversation takes place (more or less)
CJ: Mommy, take a look at this.
Me: (not seeing anything) what?
CJ: Look, right here on my elbow.
Me: (not interested and really not seeing anything) Uh-huh...yep.
CJ: No, wait...come look here in the light.
Me: What are you trying to show me? (slightly annoyed at seeing nothing)
CJ: See that, that hair right there?
Me: Uh-huh (but not really)
CJ: That hair is black. The others are not. I am turning into a man.
Me: Yep. (where did he get that from? why is he so concerned? More importantly...) CJ, let me look at that. (wondering, is is really black?)

Upon further inspection (but not too much to show concern) they hair was not black, but I didn't say anything to him. Just a few more "uh-huh's and yep".

My boys are growing up waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too fast!

Happy Birthday Carlos

(Yesterday...I am a bad wife posting a day late)
Carlos turned the 4-0!!!!!! I can't believe I am married to a man that old! That is so crazy! He is a great 40 year-old and mighty cute too! It was fairly low key and just family on his actual birthday. He got to spend the day with his boys (he is the best dad) and of course his loving wife (he never reads my blog, I can write what I want)!

We will have a party on June 20th (if I haven't invited you yet, consider yourself invited) with the traditional Over the Hill fanfare. Stay tuned...

Yard of the Month

(The date is June 3rd. My camera won't show the date like I want. Argh!)

Not mine, but my mom's. I am so thrilled for her. Really. She has a beautiful, magical garden/yard and spends almost every waking moment in her yard, planning something for her yard and I am sure she even dreams about her garden. All the grand kids love it year-round. There is always something to do...Cole and CJ always pick pine cones off the shed in the spring, Carlos and I help with bark dust, Carlos can be found picking raspberries in the summer and we all have enjoyed the yummy garden harvest! She has a green thumb that did NOT get handed down to her daughter. With that said, I did have a goal (about two years ago) to have our front yard be "Yard of the Month" but...being pregnant then having a new born...well, I am not getting there as fast as I should plus I really don't love-it, like-it like my mom does. That might be a small hurdle if I want to reach my goal. Ha! So, here is to my mom's yard, it is beautiful and she so deserves the award!

Zac's Dedication

Today my baby boy was dedicated at First Baptist Church. Steve and Bethany are his gracious god-parents and Auntie Anna is the doting aunt. Love to all of them.

Hayley Helping in the Bathtub

Hayley helped Zac with a quick bath the other night. I am not sure who had more fun. Thanks Hayley for all the splashes and getting him clean!
