A long, long time ago...in a galaxy far, far way....
About 12 years ago our friends came to our little place out in the country for a weekend visit. This is waaaaay before kids; like recently married time. Plenty of things to do like...waste a whole weekend, eating, shopping, drinking and talking. Well, that was Beth and I and little did we know that the boys were outside with 48 matches.
Here is how Brian tells the story:
48 Matches
Ingredients:
48 matchsticks
1 paper towel roll, empty
2 paper towels
6" + 6" duct tape
10' pole
1 lighter
2.5 gallons unleaded
1 underground yellow jacket nest - previously ran over with a mower and pissed off
nightfall
18 Coors - Banner Beer, not Light
2 women unaware of what we were doing
Place matchsticks very carefully on duct tape. Attach duct tape to paper towel roll. Stuff other end of roll with 2 paper towels. Tape roll to pole. Watch accomplish pour remaining gasoline into yellow jacket nest hole. Back away from the gas hole/bee nest. Light matches and slowly creep towards yellow jacket nest. Get blown backwards in a ball of flame and laugh your arses off. Watch flames go out as you have your head to the warm earth and listen to the bees hum and the flames and smoke flicker out, as do they. Proceed to high five and brag about to wives.
At the time I am not sure if I was laughing or not, but now, 12 years later I can't help but think how completely stupid they were and giggle just a little bit.
